A stunning location for fly fishing and coarse fishing. This beat is from the Falls to Mercury bridge where the river is overlooked by Richmond Castle. A popular recreational area therefore anglers should avoid busy times. Early mornings and late evening are the best times for fishing in summer.
North Bank along Riverside Road to The Falls then along the Batts to Mercury Bridge.
There is free parking on The Green or in the lay-by on Riverside Road. Paid parking at The Falls, York Square or The Station.
Beat length approximately 870m (0.5 miles).
Fly & Worm Only above the Falls.
Fly & Course below the Falls. (Any legal method).
All fish to be returned unharmed.
Species
Brown Trout above The Falls. Trout, Grayling, Chub and Dace below the Falls.
There is no fishing within 50 meters upstream or downstream of The Falls from 31st August to 24th March inclusive.
No night fishing.
