The Society’s waters at Brompton-on-Swale, along with Skeeby Beck from its confluence to the B6271 road bridge, hold a wide diversity of fish which indicate a healthy river environment.
This was the first impression following electro-fishing sampling carried out in late September (2020) by two post-graduates from Hull University working on a project focused on the Ouse catchment.
From the university's Department of Biological and Marine Sciences, the team reported that the variety and number of species found at Brompton indicated a healthy riverine ecosystem with clean, well-oxygenated water.
Please note this event, which was scheduled for 5th September, has been cancelled given the Coronavirus situation. All society waters are therefore available to society members on 5th September.
A member recently reported finding an illegal fish-trap on our waters above Lowenthwaite Bridge. We ask all members to remain vigilant for such illegal activity; please report via this web-site and/or report to local law enforcement if appropriate.
Day tickets are no longer available from the S G Petch service station in Richmond due to a recent fire. We do not know how long this will be for / whether sales will continue there in the future. As an alternative, please contact our membership secretary, Mr Adrian Lee; please see the Membership page for details.
Access to Easby water immediately upstream of the disused railway bridge has been discontinued until further notice, following its use by trespassers causing a nuisance. See "Waters and Parking" section for more details.
Day tickets are available for purchase again through the usual retail outlets (see the Membership page for details).
All Richmond & District Angling Society waters are now open for fishing, subject to government guidelines for social distancing.
Access to Cow Pasture Lake, for annual members only, requires the combination number for a locked gate - please contact a committee member for the number, with proof of your annual membership.
Richmond & District Angling Society, in line with government restrictions to contain the spread of the Corona-virus, has closed all of its waters until further notice.
Vice Chairman Derek Hutchinson, a society stalwart for many, many years, sadly died on January 11. Derek was a leading light in the society for well over five decades and was Vice Chairman and a committee member at the time of his death aged 93. He will be missed for his good counsel, kind nature and sense of humour. In Derek’s memory, the society made a donation to The British Heart Foundation.
Please note that, with immediate effect, fishing is ONLY available on Cow Pasture lake at Mill Farm Fishery.
