Parking Sign

Travelling upstream from Richmond along Reeth Road, the A6108 , the parking lay-by is on the left hand side, around the bend after Thorpe House itself.

There is parking for 3 cars here - please park considerably so that others can access as well and be careful as traffic moves quickly along here.

River Access Sign

This is the style for access. There are steps on the other side of the wall. Please stick to the right hand side of the fence and follow it down to the river. There is a gate to access upstream (please ensure it is closed) to the upper limit. Downstream access is all the way down to Lownethwaite bridge, although there is a large caravan site downstream after about 0.75 miles.

Please also be respectful of livestock in the fields. The new landowners have also advised that there may be a bull in the fields, so take care!

UPDATED: June 2002 - Following a risk assessment, the R&DAS committee recommends that members DO NOT use this access point - it is steep and potentially dangerous. The sign shown above will be removed.  In the interim, please use the other access point  descried on this page and walk upstream.
